Kentucky basketball recruiting in the 2023 class

While Kentucky only currently has one prospect committed to their current 2022 class, it is now time to multitask as 2023 prospects can now be contacted.

The class will be the second recruited by John Calipari’s new look staff that includes Orlando Antigua, who is in his second stint as a UK assistant, and Ron “Chin” Coleman, who followed Antigua from Illinois to Lexington, and the third with Jai Lucas serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator.

It will also be the second class Kentucky competes with former assistant Joel Justus, who is now at Arizona State and has offered 2023 Commonwealth standout and son of UK legend Jeff Sheppard, Reed Sheppard, who has been in contact with Antigua.

Among the targets for UK include the class’s top-ranked player Dajuan Wagner Jr. (pictured above), who is the son of Memphis/Calipari product Dajuan Wagner Sr.

As for who’s already been offered in 2023, J.J. Taylor and Jalen Lewis picked up offers almost as soon at the contact period begin, and more offers could be going out very soon.

Among the other 2023 recruits Kentucky reached out to during the first week of contact include Marquavious Brown, Gus Yalden, Stephon Castle, Robert Dillingham, Sultan Adewale, Baye Fall, Jeremy Fears Jr., Rayvon Griffith, Jayden Lemond, Omaha Biliew, Simeon Wilcher, Alex “Micah” Schmidt, Jacob Meyer, Kylan Boswell, Taison Chatman, Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn, Jalen Hooks, Tyler Smith, and Louisville native Kaleb Glenn.
