Broncos QB Drew Lock feeling ‘a lot more confident’

Drew Lock is entering his third season in the NFL, and — if he wins the job — his second year as a full-time starter.

The Denver Broncos’ quarterback has worked with Peyton Manning this offseason and he looked good overall in spring practices. Lock’s progress this offseason has him feeling confident going into the summer.

“I’d say due to the studying and the work in this offseason, I’ve been able to be a lot more confident out there,” Lock said on June 15. “We’re making changes here and there. There’s just a lot that went into this whole offseason that I think, after the first couple weeks, we’re going to start seeing grow and grow and grow, including my confidence.

“My confidence is high right now, but that’s just because we’re in practice and everything. I’m just excited where this is going. I see a lot of things that we’re building on, so to say, where we get to focus on some minor details now. Instead of maybe last year, focusing on some bigger-picture things. I think that’ll help us be 10 times better in the long run.”

If Lock is able to beat out Teddy Bridgewater for the starting job, that would obviously also give him a good confidence boost. Lock has demonstrated a great mentality this offseason, now he needs that to translate to a strong performance in training camp followed by a step forward in the regular season. If he does that, fans in Denver will be feeling more confident about the team’s long-term quarterback situation.
