Ex-Steeler Hines Ward announces ‘little MVP coming soon’ as wife is pregnant

Steelers Nation could soon be cheering for another MVP named Ward.

This as fan-favorite wide receiver, Hines Ward, announced on Instagram that he and second wife, Lindsey Georgalas-Ward, whom he married in 2014, are pregnant.

Ward posted a picture of the soon-to-be-proud parents, with Ward cradling her stomach like a football, along with the message: “Our little MVP coming soon!”

There was no immediate word on whether the newest Ward will be a boy or a girl. But the announcement, which was then tweeted by the team, has set off waves of joy and wishes of congratulations across Steelers Nation.

Ward has a son, Jaden, and a daughter, Jordan, from his previous marriage.

It is already a big year for Ward. The 14-year Steeler who racked up 1,000 receptions has caught on as receivers coach for Florida Atlantic University, where he’ll work along with wide receivers coach Joey Thomas, according to ESPN.

And with Steelers’ fans fuming that Ward has been snubbed by the Pro Football Hall of Fame, one Steeler who is getting a gold jacket this summer has bestowed the second-best honor upon Ward.

Hall-bound offensive lineman Alan Faneca has asked Ward to be his presenter. It’s a poignant Pittsburgh moment, as both players were drafted by the Steelers in 1998.

The team took Faneca right at the top. But Ward, the always-smiling Georgia wide receiver of Korean-American descent, was picked in the third round. His combination of great catches, selfless blocking for the Steelers’ running and some brutal hits over the years made Ward a fan favorite.
