Nick Williams: ‘Let’s see how these kneecaps taste’
Defensive tackle Nick Williams has been the subject of a lot of rumors during the past few weeks. On Tuesday, the Lions defensive tackle offered up a cryptic tweet that seems to answer some questions.
Possibly.
Williams tweeted out “Let’s see how these kneecaps taste this year”, a reference to head coach Dan Campbell and his epic introductory press conference.
It could be a sign that Williams has been given assurances he will be back in Detroit for a second season. His first season was lackluster, with the 31-year-old veteran registering just one sack, two tackles-for-loss and 23 total tackles. Williams is due $5.65 million in 2021, including workout and roster bonuses.
He didn’t exactly provide bang for the buck as a free agent signee last year, and dumping Williams would free up $4.65 million in cap room for the Lions. But it sounds like the team is keeping the former Bear around for another year.
Either that, or he’s avowing revenge upon the Lions for cutting him free.
