Buckeyes football team ends COVID-19 pause earlier than expected

Ohio State’s football team has been given the green light to lift its COVID-19 pause earlier than expected.

The program announced that it would implement a one-week pause for all football team-related activities out of an abundance of caution following an increase in positive tests. However, just a few days later, Ohio State revealed that it has been able to lift its pause earlier than it had anticipated.

“We did allow players who’ve tested negative multiple times this week to return to small group workouts and individual workouts at the Woody [Hayes Athletic Center],” a spokesperson said, per BuckeyesNow.
The pause did not hinder Ohio State’s spring practice plans — at least for now. The Buckeyes are planning to begin the spring season on March 19 and end with the annual spring game on April 17. They will fit 15 practices into that one month period.

Ohio State is coming off a 7-1 season, winning a fourth straight B1G title and reaching the College Football Playoff for a second consecutive season.
