NFL rumors: Ex-Giants offensive lineman Cam Fleming finds new home for 2021
New York Giants fans won’t have Cam Fleming to kick around anymore.
The free-agent offensive lineman is signing with the Denver Broncos, getting a one-year deal worth up to $3.67 million, according to 9News’ Mike Klis, who reports Fleming will compete for playing time at right tackle.
The Giants had high hopes for Fleming when they signed him before the 2020 season. After all, he spent 2018 and 2019 on the Dallas Cowboys with Jason Garrett. And Fleming’s NFL career began with the Patriots in 2014, working alongside Joe Judge in New England.
And yes, Fleming did start all 16 games last season for the Giants, his first as a full-time starter in the NFL. But Fleming was forced into that role after Nate Solder opted out of the 2020 season. NJ Advance Media’s Zack Rosenblatt said Fleming “shuffled between average and below average for most of the season. … (But) Fleming is … perfectly serviceable.” Rosenblatt reports Solder will compete with Matt Peart for the starting job at right tackle in 2021.
